CPC 255-08: Officer Steve Hindi accused of rudeness and wrongful towing

Date of Incident or Complaint:

Complainant:

Citizen states that Hindi was unprofessional and had no reason to tow their car

Summary of Allegations:

The citizen states that Hindi was extremely rude to him and his fiance from the start of the encounter. The citizen was driving on a suspended license because he didn’t pay his child support bill, and states that Hindi called him a ‘deadbeat dad’, although the investigation revealed otherwise. While Hindi did state that he should have paid his bill to have avoided driving on a suspended license, the investigation says that the citizen used the term ‘deadbeat dad’.

Summary of Findings:

Hindi was within Standard Operating Procedure to tow the car, and so that issue is exonerated. A lack of independent evidence leaves the rudeness not sustained.
