APD Shooter Cops

Starting a comprehensive list of all the shooter cops in Albuquerque. This list is under development now. It is incomplete and may have inaccurate or incomplete info. Please contact us with any corrections and additions. Please consider volunteering to adopt one or more of these cops.

  • Andrew Lopez, died February 8, 2009
  • Dominic Robert Smith, killed October 1, 2009
  • Jacob Welch shot and killed Dominic Smith October 1, 2009
  • Brandon Carr shot unarmed burglary suspect Roderick Jones in the back, killing him in November 2009.
  • Brian Pitzer and Francisco Hernandez shot Rafael LaBaceno-Marit and Jace Gage on November 28, 2009. Both men survived.
  • Mickey Owings, killed March 29, 2010
  • Anthony Sedler and “Eric Brown shot and killed Chris Hinz June 10, 2010.
  • Julian Calbert, killed June 15, 2010
  • Enrique Carrasco, killed August 17, 2010
  • Leah Kelly shot Todd Barr in September 2010. Barr survived and was charged with aggravated assault on an officer.
  • Alexei Sinkevitch, killed October 31, 2010
  • Brian Pitzer shot and Doug Moore tasered Ray Tenorio on November 11, 2010. Tenorio survived.
  • Trey Economidy shot and killed Jacob Mitschelin February 9 2011 in furtherance of his position at APD which he described as “Human Waste Disposal”
  • David Baca tasered Jerry Perea to death, March 21, 2011.
  • Christopher Torres, killed April 12, 2011
  • Mario Perez shot and killed Mark Macoldowna January 4, 2012. Authorities say Macoldowna was armed with a revolver and fired at least once upon the officer while fleeing the scene of a burglary.
  • Martin Smith shot and killed Daniel Tillison on March 19, 2012.

  • I was just reading your APD Shooter cops article and I noticed that you put a tag on this story for the video "They did not have to die". I would just like to say that I know of at least one for sure (and possibly more) shootings that Officer's were SAVING a life or two. Do you think it is right to categorize all "Shooter Cops" in this article. I believe in the publics right to know the truth, however it should be the WHOLE truth and NOT portions of it. Please look into the individual shootings if you must report on them.
